The PBM Construction Trades Explorer Post has been busy.
The explorers toured a large apartment construction project on Oct. 16 and got to ask questions about the project.
They explored the underground parking lot, which was only partially built out, and climbed into the framed-out apartment units.
At the Nov. 13 meeting, the explorers worked with PBM Executive Director Joy DesMarais-Lanz and spent the morning exploring various construction careers.
The explorer group discussed key skills required for any successful career. Special attention was given to what technical skills are important.
Students identified three careers they’d like to learn more about, and the Project Build staff will be pairing them with professionals in those positions so they can do informational interviews or job shadowing outside of the Explorer Post programs, said DesMarais-Lanz.
While the explorers will not be meeting in December, next will start off with a new adventure at The Builders Group (TBG) on Jan. 29.
Explorers will be undergoing construction safety training and taking a tour of the TBG facility.
In February, the explorer group will tour a residential construction project in North Oaks.
The Construction Trades Explorers are always looking for youth 14-21 years old to join the adventure.
