Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that construction job growth continued strong in June. Industry wide, there was 3.1% increase year over year, representing 224,000 new jobs. Nonresidential construction lead the way with 146,700 jobs added in the past 12 months, and every major sector showed growth. Associated Builders and Contractors predicts this trend will continue into 2020 and beyond, based on current market factors.
Signs also point to long term trends of increasing wages and other compensation to retain employees during this worker shortage.
