Delanie LaFave, Alexandria Technical & Community College carpentry student, was one of 16 students awarded a 2020 Housing First Minnesota (HFM) and the Housing First Minnesota Foundation scholarship to help further their education and career goals within the residential home building industry. These students are pursuing their way into our industry, and showing how bright and promising the future is for home construction.
For LaFave, her journey started with making coffee table in her high school woodworking classes. It was then she knew she wanted to build things with her hands.
“I absolutely fell in love with building things…and the pure joy of seeing the end results.”
After graduating, LaFave plans on finding employment at a great home building company and to one day own a home building/interior design business.
