Joshua Schert awarded Housing First Minnesota, Housing First Minnesota Foundation Scholarship

Joshua Schert was one of 16 students awarded a 2020 Housing First Minnesota (HFM) and the Housing First Minnesota Foundation scholarship to help further their education and career goals within the residential home building industry. These students are pursuing their way into our industry and showing how bright and promising the future is for home construction.

When the Anoka Technical College construction electrician student took a trip to his birth country at 12 years old with his adopted mother, it had a huge impact on Joshua’s life.

After seeing families living in 100 percent poverty and learning that children could not read or write, he decided he would obtain a construction electrician degree and return one day to build them a school.

One of his recommendation letters shared that “Joshua is committed to creating a successful future for himself…and he is driven to achieve.”
