Q: What do you love most about your role in construction?
A: I get to be a part of building someone’s dream home. I work in residential sales so I get to houses become realities sometimes from just napkin sketches.
Q: What was your first job in construction?
A: When I was a little girl (4-5 years old) my dad was a job supervisor and sometimes had to take me on trips because there was no one else to watch me. So I would say my first job in construction was supervising my dad at jobs sites and making sure he was doing the important things like buying the right type of jerky and sunflower seeds.
Q: What made you decide to get into the building industry?
A: I fell into it! I met my husband and his father worked here his whole life. Sean wasn’t interested in joining the family business but I was. I started off as the receptionist up in front.
Q: When you graduated from high school, what did you want to do for a career?
A: I didn’t know, honestly. I have always had a strong, go-getter personality but typically you don’t think of females in the construction world. Although I know now that I fit right in!
Q: Outside of work, what hobbies do you have?
A: We are a big hockey family. I also love hiking with my family / dogs, going up to our cabin, traveling.
Q: If you had a chance to talk with students coming out of high school today, what would you want them to know about a job in the trades?
A: Success isn’t measured by a degree. Careers in trades are not only valued/ needed but many times make more money than you would with a degree!
