Jack Flaherty, University of Wisconsin-Stout construction management student, was one of 16 students awarded a First Minnesota and the Housing First Minnesota (HFM) and the Housing First Minnesota Foundation (HFM-F) scholarship in 2020.
HFM and HFM-F awarded $16,000 in scholarships to many deserving recipients to help further their education and career goals within the residential home building industry.
For his community service project to attain Eagle Scout, Flaherty led a small crew to build a 100-foot paver sidewalk with stairs for a church transitional home. He spent several summers working for his family stucco company and aspires to one day be the owner. As stated by a former Scout leader in one of his letters of recommendation, “[by investing] in Jack’s education, the quality of Minnesota housing will benefit.”
